3. Festival is NOT a competition! It is an individualized assessment opportunity for all ages and abilities☺ AGES 4- ADULT

The rating system and adjudication process is very relaxed and encouraging to students at all levels. It has a very "positive" vibe that never makes anyone feel badly about a rating.

It is a very introductory adjudication and assessment opportunity to get students used to setting goals, following through with commitments, and working hard to achieve their goals.

  • Students ages 4-adult may participate in this exciting annual festival which gives them the opportunity to receive a detailed assessment by an adjudicator . This encourages each student to set and fulfill their musical goals and grow as musicians and artists! Festival also offers each student  the possibility of receiving award ribbons, points towards  trophy cups , and scholarships as they get older!
  • Each year, Berry Music is proudly represented in categories such as PIANO SOLO,  ART SONG VOCAL SOLO, MUSICAL THEATRE VOCAL SOLO, THEORY EXAM, .  Most students participate in 2-3 categories. For example: Piano and Theory exam, or Piano, Voice, Theory Exam.
  • COST: $30 PER CATEGORY AND $20 THEORY EXAM.

  • THE CATEGORIES ARE: SOLO PIANO, VOCAL MUSICAL THEATRE, VOCAL ART SONG, and THEORY EXAM.
  • Regardless if a student is taking the theory exam, I will be prepping all students in the THEORY TIME CURRICULUM

  • ***There is also an additional $35 per student fee that I charge for processing the registration and the massive preparation that is involved.

  • ALL STUDENTS IN SOLO PIANO  OR ANY OF THE VOCAL CATEGORIES WILL NEED TO PURCHASE THEIR OWN COPIES OF THEIR PIECES(I WILL SEND SPECIFIC LINKS, AS ONLY CERTAIN EDITIONS ARE ALLOWED PER FESTIVAL GUIDLINES!) PHOTOCOPIES ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

  • TIP: MIDWEST SHEET MUSIC IN MARYLAND HEIGHTS CARRIES ALL FESTIVAL MUSIC IN STOCK. BE SURE TO CALL THEM AND PLACE YOUR ORDER OR DOUBLE CHECK TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE NOT RUN OUT OF A CERTAIN PIECE! 314-291-4686. Be sure to mention that you are a student of Berry Music STL.

  • AMAZON is great too!

  • ALL MUSIC MUST BE MEMORIZED! It is easy to do if you practice!
  • HERE ARE THE AMAZING BENEFITS OF STUDENT PARTICIPATION!
  •  Students who share their music in national assessment event such as Festival, gain confidence and courage!
  •  This helps them in school when they give presentations in the classroom, and one day in their future careers!
  • These assessment/ performance  events I offer encourage students to meet their musical goals, step out past their anxieties or fears to prove to themselves that they CAN Share their gifts with others and also receive helpful feedback.

The LIFE-SKILLS that students attain through performing and/ or doing national assessment events such as NFMC or NGPT Include:

DILIGENCE: Even when it seems difficult, students work hard with consistence to make progress on their musical goals.

COMMITMENT:  Students set a goal, commit to the goal, and follow-through until the goal is accomplished.

TENACITY: When students feel too tired, too busy, too discouraged, too frustrated, or too challenged they continue to receive support and encouragement from their teacher and parents as they stick with it and they DO NOT GIVE UP.

ACCOUNTABILITY: Students learn to work together in the "triangle effect" PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT-a team effort. They receive support and feedback as they continue to manage their time and hold themselves accountable to practice effectively.

RESPONSIBILITY: With honesty and accountability in mind; students are responsible for their actions of daily practice or non-practice.

CONFIDENCE: Students gain confidence and healthy self-esteem as they make progress on their musical goals each week as they approach the event deadline. They begin to believe in themselves, conquer their fears, and set bigger goals!
