RECITALS AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

There are many opportunities for the students of BERRY MUSIC  to share their musical gifts!

The many benefits that come with experiencing  performance  events can have a positive effect on students of all ages including: mentally, physically, and emotionally!

I  cannot begin to count the number of times a student has walked up to me after a recital and said: " Wow! That was fun! I was so nervous in the car ride to the recital and then I saw everyone having so much fun! When do we get to do this again!"

I am a little on the untraditional side when it comes to recitals. Here is why: Students need to learn from an early age how to be comfortable in front of people to help prepare them for the rest of their lives. This does NOT need to be strict or terrifying event! What better way than to invite them to learn these skills in a very casual setting  such as a small-group recital?!

Recitals are not meant for perfection! Performing in front of others teaches students how to roll past their mistakes and KEEP GOING while having fun! More importantly, performing teaches students how to practice thoroughly so they can tell a story and captivate the audience with their beautiful music!

I keep my small group recitals short and sweet! Attire is casual or dress up if you'd like. Memorization is not required but always encouraged.

Family and friends are welcome to come listen!

I absolutely love watching my students show their courage as they walk up to the piano and share their music or sing!

Each performer receives a performance trophy to reward them for their preparation!

**** DATES FOR 2023/2024 RECITAL SERIES EVENTS ARE LISTED BELOW!***

IT IS NOT MANDATORY FOR STUDENTS TO SHARE IN THESE EVENTS! Just know this: Students who share their music in a small-group performance recital, Senior community music share event, or national assessment event gain confidence and courage! This helps them in school when they give presentations in the classroom, and one day in their future careers! These casual  performance  events I offer encourage students to meet their musical goals, step out past their anxieties or fears to prove to themselves that they CAN Share their gifts with others!

The LIFE-SKILLS that students attain through performing and/ or doing national assessment events such as NFMC or NGPT Include:

DILIGENCE: Even when it seems difficult, students work hard with consistence to make progress on their musical goals.

COMMITMENT:  Students set a goal, commit to the goal, and follow-through until the goal is accomplished.

TENACITY: When students feel too tired, too busy, too discouraged, too frustrated, or too challenged they continue to receive support and encouragement from their teacher and parents as they stick with it and they DO NOT GIVE UP.

ACCOUNTABILITY: Students learn to work together in the "triangle effect" PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT-a team effort. They receive support and feedback as they continue to manage their time and hold themselves accountable to practice effectively.

RESPONSIBILITY: With honesty and accountability in mind; students are responsible for their actions of daily practice or non-practice.

CONFIDENCE: Students gain confidence and healthy self-esteem as they make progress on their musical goals each week as they approach the event deadline. They begin to believe in themselves, conquer their fears, and set bigger goals!

My many students are eager and excited to work hard and share what they are learning with others!  I work very hard to prepare each students for these events. Ages 3- Adult are welcome to participate! No experience is necessary! Just jump right in and join the fun!

Performance opportunities prepare students to present themselves in a public setting, to learn how to manage stage presence, social grace, and how to present themselves with confidence and poise!  They also learn how to manage and cope with normal feelings of anxiety if they arise! Theselife skillshelp them make friends, communicate with others, succeed in school, and succeed in athletics!

  • SENIOR COMMUNITY OUTREACH MUSIC SHARE EVENTS:
  •  I've had a special place in my heart for the senior community since I was a 10-year-old girl! For nearly my entire life I have been sharing the gift of music with seniors and have taken HUNDREDS of students with me throughout the years!
  • Students join me as we  go to area senior assisted living and memory care communities to share the joy of music. The wonderful senior communities love it and so do my students!  These events are casual settings, so, wear what you like, and come as you are! My Students and I have a fun tradition after each music share. We each take a carnation to one of the senior residents and thank them for coming. Its a great way to have some social interaction as well!
